Unit 11 – Task 1 P1: Physical: Physical abuse is a type of abuse when someone is being physically harmed by another/group of person/people. It is an aggressive behaviour that results in another person having physical injuries. It could be that they don’t even use their own fists to hit someone; they may use another object to throw or hit someone with. It could be kicking or punching, restrained to a chair, being locked in a room, grabbing, and pushing, slapping, pulling hair, biting, punching and kicking. Sexual: Sexual abuse is the type of abuse when someone is forced into doing sexual acts without their consent to cause pain or humiliation. This sort of abuse if rarely a one off, it usually has a pattern if it is happening in the home environment. Institutional: This abuse is the type of abuse that happens in a care, nursing or residential home. It can include; neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, verbal abuse, discriminatory abuse, psychological and emotional abuse or financial abuse. Self-harm: This is the type of abuse where someone causes deliberate pain to themselves with intentions that they definitely will harmed whatever they decide to do. It can be self-harming (cutting themselves), jumping from a height or playing with fire. It could be having an intake of substances that will cause harm to internal organs or having an intake of a recreational drug to cause harm to themselves. It could also be that they are neglecting themselves too. For example, not taking showers, not eating, not drinking, not dressing for the appropriate weather. P2: If you approached a person and they would flinch if you lifted you hand near them, this would usually lead you to believe that they are being physically abused, as it shows that they are really nervous around physical contact between people and their expectation is that you’re going to hurt them like other people have. Also, if you found bruising to the upper arm, bruising around the mouth and burns on their body, this would also lead you to believe that they are being physically abused by someone as they are mystery
Physical abuse is “the mistreatment of a child that causes physical injury, impairment, or endangerment.” (Layman 15) It accounts for about 25 percent of abuse cases. (Moses) Children who have been abused usually show certain signs. They tend to be apathetic and withdrawn, but at the same time, constantly scanning their environment for danger. (Oates 43) Physical abuse can leave all kinds of injuries.
Sexual Abuse is when someone is making you do sexual things and actions which might make you sad, angry or frightened. This includes things such as; being touched when you do not want to be, being made to touch other people in ways you do not want to, undressing or having sexual intercourse with someone when you do not want to, or being made to watch or say sexual things when you do not want to. Sexual abuse is not always between strangers, and can be between husband and wife, or two members of the family. An example of this is if a boyfriend was to touch their girlfriend inappropriately and they did not want them to, or maybe the girlfriend’s
Physical: is non-accidental use of force against any person that results in physical pain, injury, impairment or confinement. Signs of physical abuse are, injuries that are consistent with physical abuse, present of several injuries of a variety of ages, Injuries that have not received medical attention, a person being taken to many different places to receive medical attention, Skin infections, unexplained weight changes or medication being lost, behavior that indicates that the person is afraid of the perpetrator, change of behavior or avoiding the perpetrator.
* Emotional/psychological abuse: threats of harm/abandonment, over controlling, harassment, intimidation & withdrawal from support networks/services
Physical abuse is abuse involving contact intended to cause feelings of intimidation, pain, injury, or other physical suffering or bodily harm..
Sexual abuse is sexual activity that is deemed improper or harmful, as between an adult and a minor or with a person of diminished mental capacity.
Abuse and violence can take lots of different forms. Physical abuse is where someone is physically injured by someone else. Sexual abuse involves someone being made or forced to do any kind of sexual activity. I am choosing these two types of abuse to write about the immediate and long term effects.
Sexual Abuse is direct or indirect involvement in sexual activities without consent. As well as being physically forced into sexual activity without consent.
Institutional abuse is failure of an organization to provide an appropriate and professional service to vulnerable people.
Physical: Physical abuse is deliberate physical force that may result in bodily injury, pain, or impairment. Both old and young people can be physically abused.
Sexual abuse is any type of non-consensual contact which an adult cannot or hasn’t consented to or has been put under pressure to do so. It can include a person touching your private parts or making you touch theirs. Forcing a person to perform sexual acts on them or receive them which can then result in rape. Situations that make a person feel uncomfortable, for example making sexual comments, making a person watch pornography videos or rubbing their body against theirs.
Sexual abuse – This is unwanted sexual activity that is forced upon a person without their consent, this includes rape, making them watch pornography, pestering them by making sexual suggestions or comments, or they were pressured into consenting.
These are just some of the signs of active abusers and should be recognized as such. If these signs are blatantly visible and more than just one, then the person being discussed may very well have issues and be an abuser.
Signs and symptoms of institutional abuse: Regular admissions to hospital. No care or support plan. Could also include any work action or regime which destroys the dignity and respect to which every person is entitled to. Individuals possessions being shared in a residential setting.
Physical abuse is a deliberate use of physical force that results in bodily injury pain or impairments. Sgns of physical abuse can be burns and scalds, marks on the skin consistent with being slapped, scratched, bitten or pinched.Sexual abuse is direct or indirect involvementin sexual activity without valid consent. Signs of sexual abuse could be sexual transmitted disease,unexplained crying and distress or anxiety and fear of physical touch. Emotional/psycholoigical abuse is any action by another that damages an individuals mental wellbeing, signs of this is attention seeking behaviour,depression,low self-esteem and lack of self confidence.
