Osmoregulation may be defined as the process by, which an organism is able to maintain a balance between water and ions inside the body regardless of external environment. The closed-circulatory system (blood flows in closed vessels and capillaries) in vertebrates is able to carry the process of osmoregulation in a very efficient manner.
