Not too long ago, CIOs were not ready to be required in the organization’s vital planning process (CEB IT, 2014). It is now necessary for CIOS to have a place at that table. For any organization, it is an important goal to achieve strategic alignment between the IT organizations and the enterprises. Alignment is achieved through a well-defined and understood role for the organization’s CIO and a well-defined and adopted working relationship between the CIO and other top staff. The CIO should look forward to the organization’s need and be a fundamental partner to others. Through the reception of interpersonal interaction and the examination of customer and market move, CIOs are forcibly requested to be more vital and to include value (CEB IT, 2014). When it comes to IT strategic planning, CIOs should focus on spotting business opportunities for big data, enabling business-led technology innovation, building a strategic IT workforce plan. These focus areas are based on the CIOs rate on their IT organization’s effectiveness (CEB IT, 2014). With the CIO being both a strategic planner and an executive, he/she can help the organization reach its strategically defined business goal and objectives.
