The sheer volume of information of all types is ever increasing, making the job of IT manager more difficult. To remain competent, IT managers must keep up with the latest trends and new technologies. The evaluation of new technology is another skill related to information literacy, since the information describing such technology can take many forms. The best IT managers are highly skilled in such evaluations. These effective managers seem to be rare, as found in Li (2009). That study found that to deal with the difficulties of IT management, many organizations used encroachment, to save face for executives by simplifying and deflecting harmful results and analysis. This spreads the managerial blame and deals with the well documented fact (every computer science student is taught this) that over 60% of all technology projects fail and software development projects in particular fail even more frequently. The reasons for the failure of such projects include the incompetence of IT management (Toader et al., 2010). This is increasingly exemplified by the inability to communicate effectively with workers of foreign origin and incorrect evaluations of technology. The lost revenue of software projects is a huge number and that problem is not getting better. Since dealing with cross cultural management and the evaluation of new technology are skills learned in information literacy, the lack of formal information literacy classes
Information Management has to do with capturing information, efficient planning, organizing and evaluating the information to interpret for an organization to make well informed decisions. (Hinton, 2006) The main reason organizations depend on information is to improve its overall management in

This report is made to find the reasons behind “Why IT Projects Fail and find the critical factors which lead successful project”
Information system is a combination of hardware, software, infrastructure as well trained personnel who organized and facilitate planning, control, coordination and decision making within an organization. Information systems are also able to implement a vital integrated set of components for collecting, storing, and processing data. With this, it provided organizations with the necessary information, knowledge, and digital products needed. Information systems (IS), technically are a set of interrelated components that collect and retrieve information, process and store it and support the organization in decision making. Information Technology (IT) is a shared technology and provides the platform for specific information. It consists of hardware and software for a business to achieve their objectives. Included is the computer systems, the computer, any hand-held devices, software the company needs to operate and storage. (20)
(The Association of College and Research Libraries, 2000) said that integrative thinkers succeed even when instability is the only constant. As the information literacy competencies and standards the 21st century was future in the possibility. Information literacy is a set of abilities requiring individuals to "recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information." Information literacy also is increasingly important in the contemporary environment of rapid technological change and proliferating information resources. Because of the escalating complexity of this environment, individuals are faced with diverse, abundant information choices--in their academic studies, in the workplace, and in their personal
(ABSTRACT) This research project addresses the issues affecting information technology development and deployment. The issues represented in this study are addressed in the context of IT
Individuals and organizations use information on a daily basis to make decisions. Knowing how to collect, understand and use it is a key skill to acquire. Sources of information include public libraries, information and knowledge management community and websites.

In the time it has taken me to complete the IT Management course of study at Webster University I have learned that there are additional tasks that I was previously unaware of in regard to the management of Information Technology. Although I work in the IT field, my adult education was anchored in the Psychology field where the use of IT assets is limited at best. Learning the importance and relevance of organizational behavior, finance, communication systems, project management, procurement, systems analysis, and communications security in regards to IT management was mostly new to me. I chose to write this essay to show the way each subject that was required for the IT Management degree affected my capstone project.
After reading the case, one continues to come up with new problems and issues along the way that are related to information technologies. The three main problems we encountered in this case are lack of IT knowledge, inappropriate planning, and ineffective and inefficient Resource Management. Each of these issues requires specific attention to fix the next problem and so forth. The solution to attack each individual problem or issue will be explained as follows.
Information Technology (IT) is a foundation for conducting business today. It plays a critical role in increasing productivity of firms and entire nation. It is proven that firms who invested in IT have experienced continued growth in productivity and efficiency. Many companies' survival and even existence without use of IT is unimaginable. IT has become the largest component of capital investment for companies in the United States and many other countries.
Information Technology (IT): The hardware and software technologies a firm needs to achieve its business objectives (Kenneth C Laudon and Jane P Laudon., 2010).
This paper will discuss the processes and pitfalls faced by Information Technology managers in today’s world of business. Today’s IT managers need not only be savvy about existing equipment and upcoming technology; but must also understand the budget issues they face and how to properly address them. The IT manager is asked to look into a crystal ball and predict what products will be beneficial and which requirements can be cut from the budget. They must be able to differentiate between the new shiny fad and products that will be a true asset to the company’s visions and goals. An IT budget can no longer be a static number on the company’s finance sheet; it must be a clear vision of the department’s future spending while falling in line with the goals and expectations of the company.
Frenzel (2004) claimed that to be successful, a firm’s IT management team must take action on the following critical areas: business management issues; strategic and competitive issues; planning and implementation concerns; and operational items. If for any reason, the organisation experiences difficulties in the above areas, the manager will need to set goals and objectives to overcome and prevent these issues.
