Teacher Cadet Application
Being a teacher does not only require a degree, but a desire to fill young brains with knowledge and excitement about learning. As a future educator, I need to be able to pursue my passion of teaching in a way that is enjoyable and fascinating to adolescent minds. Therefore, I want to become part of the Teacher Cadet Program in order to learn different teaching techniques, gain experience, and determine which subject and grade level would best suit me.
I have always known that I wanted to make a difference in society by becoming a teacher, due to my love of children and helping people understand various topics. I have worked with children by babysitting, instructing karate, leading children’s Sunday school, and working at a summer camp. By doing these activities I have established bonds with diverse groups of children, but at the same time, I kept a professional and respectable boundary. I have successfully worked inside a planning department alongside people of all ages and personalities in planning activities and lessons for kids.
By joining the Teacher Cadet Program and shadowing a teacher I will acquire various methods and skills I can later apply in my future in the teaching field. The major skill I am eager to learn is how to mold lesson plans to the needs of the classroom. I

As a result of gaining experience from Teacher Cadet I will not only see the good side of teaching, but I will also see the obstacles I will have to face in the future. Also, taking part in the Teacher Cadet Program will give me insight on which grade level and subject I plan to major in to get my teaching degree. I will furthermore be able to determine if I want to work with special needs or regular education students. By participating in this program I will have an advantage over other rising educators in means of getting into college, receiving job offers, raises, and
I believe that education is the key in developing today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders. Education is the basis on which individuals develop their self-concept and the desire to become more knowledgeable. I want to become an educator because I am interested in helping elementary students become active learners and also to assist with their social skills. I believe I can make a difference to many students as they start their educational foundation. I feel that all teachers should possess the desire to devote their hard work and efforts to their students’ educational success. I view teaching as not only one of the most respected careers, but also as one in which the rewards are great and many
Teaching demands a lot of creativity and being able to adapt to different situations and environments. However, in order to experience lasting success, more than pot luck, charisma and spontaneity are required. Planning is essential. Planning and preparation gives a certain level of confidence. Whether it is a single lesson or a whole course, planning allows you to design the learning journey you wish to take your students on. In designing, you can make sure that you are catering for all your learners’ needs. This includes sufficient differentiation; for SEN needs as well as your gifted and talented students. In planning you can ensure that your lessons have a definite beginning, middle and end and have clear aims and targets. At this stage you will also prepare and plan resources. Also, you must plan your assessments. How will you know when the students have learned what you set out to teach? How will they know? How are you going to prove that learning has taken place at the end of the course? All these points will be addressed in the planning stage of the teacher training cycle.
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve known what I wanted to do. I am one of those people who was blessed enough to realize my passion at an early age. As far back as I can remember, I’ve wanted to become a teacher. I can remember as a child sitting in my room, surrounded by my stuffed animals (or students, as I saw them) and forcing my younger brother to sit still and quietly do the work I assigned him. I even had two baskets which I kept on my little wooden desk; one for my “students” to turn in work, and the other for more work which needed to be graded. I spent many afternoons
The Kenan Fellows Program seeks teachers to be part of a network of accomplished educators who model innovative and relevant instructional practices. Kenan Fellows work to build leadership and instructional skills and develop new resources based on unique summer internships. Please respond to the following five questions and use specific examples when possible.
Mrs. Barrier was the teacher I chose to interview for this paper, and I found her last two answers very helpful and very true. My first question was “What do you do at RCC?” to which her answer was “I educate students a RECHS.” (Mrs. Barrier is the History teacher for the freshman). The next question was “Why did you decide to pursue this career?” and she replied, “I always wanted to be a teacher ever since I
Many cadets with the Minnesota Wing Civil Air Patrol gained valuable training this past weekend at Camp Ripley during the Cadre Training Weekend. Cadets (minors) and seniors (adults) trained together for a summer leadership camp called encampment. They trained in areas ranging from making beds to handling tricky situations in exercises called situational leadership simulations. Cadet Trevor Prelesnik says, “I learned a lot about the mastery of regulations that flight sergeants need to have and how to better work with others.”
One of the best ways someone can determine if they really would like to go into a certain field is by simply observing and talking to does already in that career. This is fairly important for a future teacher because even if you don 't realize it as a student, teaching is one of the most difficult jobs that requires a lot of patience and determination in oneself. While observing big diverse classrooms of students who have various levels of knowledge on the subjects and having the teachers trying to reflect the learning styles of all the students through the curriculum I noticed one thing they try their hardest to help every single one of those students. I have learned so much so far on many different aspects of teaching while observing these summer teachers at school Plummer Middle School.
All my hard work and dedication will be further enhanced from my student teaching experience. Applying skills, given to me from the Adam State University teacher education program, will enrich my knowledge of professionalism via guidance given by my mentor teacher, lesson plans I teach a classroom and relationships constructed with students.
Brad Henry once said, “A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning. Like every child I loved to play with my toys but unlike other children I would “teach” my dolls what I learned that day. In the third grade knew I wanted to become a teacher because I had an amazing instructor who ignited my dream to become a teacher. It has been a goal I’ve strived to meet since then. The Teacher Cadet Program will assist me in attaining my goals by helping me gain teaching experience, confidence in presenting, and gain awareness in teaching.
Centerville Abington is the school that I cadet at. I am very fortunate to be able to have a mentor like Mrs Charlton, who so happens to be my old elementary teacher. Mrs. Charlton is the head of the P.E. department at Centerville Elementary and Rose Hamilton Elementary. She so happens to teach all the kids K-6 by herself.
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew that in my future I wanted to become a teacher. I always looked up to my teachers, especially the ones I had in elementary school. I even played 'school' with my friends and pretended I had my own classroom. I loved being in charge. During a summer, I was given the opportunity to work as an Energy Express mentor and work with a group of eight children. This was one of the most wonderful experiences I have ever been through. I was a mentor to help guide the children, and by the end of the summer I felt as if I had really accomplished something. I am planning to pursue a career in elementary education. I love children, and just knowing that as a
Although I have always wanted to become a teacher, there were no set plan of action or goals that I set to get there. It did not happen until one day, when I looked in the mirror and I realized that I was getting older and I was not any closer to realizing the dream of becoming a teacher. First and foremost, I need to find out what were the necessary qualifications to becoming a teacher. This also meant that I needed to return to school to obtain these qualifications, this was a very terrifying thought for me being in my late thirty’s. Therefore, I gather all of the information that needed. Now I was equipped and the journey began for me as a student, it felt absolutely wonderful taking the first set towards realizing my
Since I start this program I have been always asking myself if I will be a good teacher, or even close enough to be a good teacher. I teacher who will be breaking down barriers and propel students to reach their highest level. I am still wondering what will be the best ways, or strategies to provide students with the best learning experience.
Teaching is like a draft, each time you teach you can improve your teaching. This saying my sound silly, but walk into a classroom and teach a lesson and this saying will become very relevant. Many people overestimate how easy teaching can be. Teaching is more than simple worksheets and powerpoint that provide the information. Students have variety of needs and have a variety of learning styles and as teachers we need to make accommodations for each child. There are around twenty-four students and one teacher, these twenty-four students are all unique and different. As a future teacher, walking into a classroom I needed to think about my objectives, language, assessments, feedback, how successful and unsuccessful my lesson was, and what I can work on to become a more successful teacher. All of these thoughts are going about a lesson, which can be a ten minute lesson or a sixty minute lesson. Through this practicum experience my understanding about teaching and learning has deepened and has taught me so much about what I need to work on to become a more successful teacher. As teacher we expect our students to be always working to better themselves and as teachers we need to be leading by example, if anything the experience has deepened my intrinsic motivation for becoming a better teacher. Realization that students come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, and have a variety of diversity. This experience in the classroom and depended my personal philosophy and guided
I am twenty-eight years old, and have only decided to become a teacher within the past two years. I have always wanted to help people in some way, yet I was not sure of what area or angle to go with my humanitarian instincts. While at University, two of my professors would continually express their feelings on what an impact I would make as a teacher. This planted the seed. I later became pregnant with and gave birth to my daughter. When you are pregnant and have children you have many worries and anxieties, including the stress of who will be caring for and teaching your child. I then examined the public school systems, for it is very difficult to ignore the negative media it has received in just the past few years. Something inside of me has told me that this is where I want to be. Somehow I want to make a difference in that child’s life by showing the child that someone does care and that they do have a positive place in the world. Hopefully this can open the child up to the realization that knowledge is the power and the key to a successful and productive life.
