The Pros And Cons Of Collaboration

Collaboration: In a community of learners, students work together in teams, partners, or groups. This allows students to gain social skills and increases students’ motivation for the project. Students share ideas and gain a new understanding of the content.

The two words most often used, ”cooperative and collaboration,” can easily be both applicable to the United States of America and other countries today, and are still often used to describe contract negotiations for the United States of America as well as other countries. (Barnardin & Russell, 2013).

The purpose of working with other people to achieve goals and objectives would be getting different angles on how to do complete goals and different ways of learning.

When Working well with others and making sure everyone stays on task shows collaboration. I've learned collaboration while being on a basketball team i had to work with other on the court to get the play to go in motion. When playing sports for me you have to collaborate with others to make sure you get to the goal to score a shot. One time the play unfolded in a basketball game and i examined where everyone was and i moved to a spot where i had an open shot and i signaled for the ball and took the shot. Furthermore, each team creates strategic goals that help them achieve organization mission and visions. Just as in sports, teams aim to meet their strategic goals through collaboration. Just as effective sports teams reach championship games and break scoring records, teamwork in business organization results in increased productivity and job satisfaction. Like sports teams, effective teams are made up of members that trust each other.

Teamwork is the product of two or more persons working together to accomplish a given goal. Take for instance the Egyptian Pyramids. If one man alone tried to plan and build these colossal monuments by himself, he would have failed miserably. Collaboration within groups allows individuals to use their own specific ideas and own talents to succeed when they needed it the most. When succeeding in a collaborative environment an individual gains the ability of communication that is growing in the world today. The school system used to be completely individual based with little to no feel of a collaborative environment. However, schools are now beginning to understand the benefits of losing the standard approach to school and is now leading the world to a collaborative environment. While working in a collaborative environment the members of these groups usually gain insight on what they are effective at and what they are no effective at.

Reflecting on the social change agents in action videos, the one I found particularly inspiring the “Power of Collaboration" by Marrian Kunth. This because Kunth a very brave woman succeeds to connect with other people’s power and passion. She proves that when collaboration exists between different people from different places, it is easier for them to connect to each other and work together to make a common change.

Collaboration can help the professionals learn from one another’s skills and help them to identify their own useful skills. This can motivate professionals on diving deeper with specific topics and furthering their knowledge and education in order to benefit not only themselves, but everyone that they work with.

The tools available in firms today allow for vertical and horizontal collaboration to happen quickly but this does not mean that external collaboration should be welcomed in firms as collaboration could be the tool necessary to improve or complete certain products or services as well as marketing and administration as you will find out more.

Collaboration is when a student contributes to a group’s joint intellectual efforts through work ethic, leadership, and service. The artifacts I’ve chosen will come from my Honors English class and my Physical Science class. After forming the team, using the similar assessment tools, I will assess the members. This is to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. I would provide the team with the clear idea about the project, purposes, activities included, goals and the timeline to achieve the goals. Depending on the strengths and weaknesses of the members, I will assign the job to the team. Aristotle is credited with stating the whole is greater than the simple sum of its parts. This also represents the definition of synergy. Synergy is the unified working of the sum to create something greater than the individual components. For instance a car engine is comprised of an engine block, belts, hoses, spark plugs, and other miscellaneous components. Individually these components are not going to propel a vehicle however when put together and fed some fuel the components create the oomph needed to support transportation. In sports and business the cooperation and collaboration of people in organizations is no different. The people within these groups must be working in a unified manner toward a common set of goals and objectives. This common set of goals and objective provides the end point so that a team of people have the necessary oomph, to achieve outcomes that would otherwise be unattainable by a single individual.
