Question
Chapter 1, Problem 42EQ
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The formal charges on S, O and N atoms in the given structure is to be calculated.
Concept Introduction:
Some organic
To calculate the formal charge on an atom in any given structure it is necessary to distinguish between the electrons that make up an atom’s octet and the electrons that formally “belong” to an atom. In any given Lewis structure all electrons associated with an atom either as an unshared pair or shared pair are part of that atom’s octet.

complete a Carvone Lewis structure that displays all valence electrons, all atoms and all the formal charges, if any. Use only a single dash for each pair of bonding electrons and a pair of dots for all nonbonding pairs of electrons.
Identify and label all functional groups (alcohols, amines, amides, carboxylic acids, ketones, aldehydes, aromatic rings, aromatic amines, etc) on the Lewis Structure. You do not have to circle alkanes. (Must be included in the preliminary submission and in the PowerPoint.)
what is the complete lewis structure of acetic anhydride such that all atoms have zero formal charge?
Answer this question:How to draw the line bond formula or lewis structure of a methyl ketone with the chemical formula C6H5C3H5O? (also taking into consideration the solubility test and chemical test results provided below)
Based on the results of the solubility tests the compound is insoluble in water, 10% NaOH and 10% HCl but soluble in concentrated H2SO4.
The functional group/class is identified to be Methyl Ketone, based on the results of the chemical tests on Table 2.
